The Best Way To Quit smoking

Public Health England (PHE) released an annual review on the health benefits of vaping. Their review takes place annually and consists of data that has been collected throughout the year before relating to the tobacco industry. The research is conducted by leading tobacco experts and details an in-depth look into how people quit smoking.

Research carried out by King's College London concluded that:

  • E-cigarette products containing nicotine were the most popular (27.2%) at assisting smokers to stop smoking in England (2020)
  • In 2017 more than 50,000 smokers, who would otherwise have carried on smoking, were able to stop smoking by vaping.
  • In 2020 38% of smokers believed that vaping is as harmful and 15% thought vaping is more harmful than smoking.
  • Some of the highest quit success rates (between 59.7%- 74%.), In local stop smoking services, came from using vaping products.

From this evidence, it is clear that e-cigarette use and vaping is better than any nicotine replacement products and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).

It can be super overwhelming to even know where to start, so here are some tips on supporting your loved one make the switch:

Help Make a Plan

Having a goal, like a one month, 1 year, 5 year plan allows for your loved one to have easy wins, and celebrate when they stick to it.

Support Don't Judge

Being judgemental can send your loved one the other way, if they slip up, it's best to stay positive and offer them support.

Remind Them Why They Decided To Quit

When you're in the thick of it you can forget the reason you decided to quit in the first place, so offering a gentle reminder could help them to get back on track.

Get Them Informed

Letting your loved one know the statistics and facts could help them not only commit but stick with the plan.

Quit Together

Having a buddy to quit together, exchange stories and talking about your feelings can be super motivating and encouraging, so if you want to quit, get a buddy, if someone you know or love wants to quit, get a group together.

Find Them An Alternative That Works

Quitting cold turkey is beyond difficult, and it's actually not recommended for long term healing. Using an alternative or nicotine replacement therapy that actually works is the best way to conquer those cravings and lead a healthier lifestyle.

Pod Kits

Pod kits are a great way to quit smoking and get into vaping for people that want more control over their devices. They tend to have higher wattages, which can often be adjusted, but the most appealing thing about them is the ability to choose your e-liquid. They are best used with nicotine salts or 50:50 PG/VG E-liquids.

Heat not burn products such as IQOS, and Ploom, are electrically powered devices that heat tobacco sticks, they give you a very similar experience to smoking, but instead of burning the tobacco, they are heated slowly, which produces less harmful toxins.
