The IJoy Avenger
It’s pretty obvious, I get to play with a bunch of toys as soon as they show up and that’s awesome. When the IJoy avenger came through though, i kind of did a double take for a second. The Avenger is marketed with IJoys new premade mesh coils and yours truly got a chance to put it through its paces. So, here goes.
Personal opinion: Let’s talk about this. The Avenger comes with a few different coils and they all rock. However, there seems to be an uprising in “mesh coils” recently so i'm going to focus on that particular coil today. Some or most of you might be wondering what the big deal is? It’s all good my dear reader, i got you covered.
Basically, mesh has been used recently instead of a normal kanthal coil in drippers such as the Vandy Vape Mesh RDA, and the reason being, it’s just better! I tried every coil under the sun, trust me.
As soon as I laid eyes on the Avenger, it kind of freaked me out a little bit though. These huge pyramid shaped coils, the bulky pyrex tank and of course, the stunning colours. I really didn't know what to expect. And to make matters worse, no one told me the coils were mesh so i wasn't really expecting much either but as soon as I took that first vape, it blew my mind. There are certain characteristics to be found with a mesh coil. For instance, there's no harshness. It's one of the smoothest vapes and something you have to experience to understand. Let me break down the coil for you, just so you can see what I mean.
The image on the right represents what the coils look like, one lead being the positive and the other being the negative. Welded between those leads are individual strands of steel, tightly woven into a mesh. Can you see the surface area it covers? It’s huge! And that’s the key, the main reason why I think that these mesh coils are a work of art. I spoke about this before but there’s a few reasons why these coils are so effective for me, one being the great heating time. The coils heat up almost instantly and they glow completely uniformly when installed. There's no kinks to work out and no hot spots. I think you get the point.
With that out of the way, let me talk about the tank itself for a little bit. The construction of the tank itself is solid, there's no biting threads and no rough edges either. It is a top filler, and the fluted edges on the top cap itself are nicely defined, without being too intrusive and the story is the same or the airflow ring too. It seems IJoy worked this puppy all the way around. Engraving wise, the drip tip wears the IJoy logo proudly, along with the Avenger text being quite prominent on the airflow control ring. Nothing too flashy here, I guess they let the performance do the talking!
Speaking of airflow, it will come across a little airy but it’s very easy to control and versatile too. Keeping the airflow open to the max will give you heaps of vapor but closing it to around half way is the sweet spot for me, the perfect balance between cloudidge and flavour. Besides, flavour is what we’re all after is it not?
Overall, it’s a fantastic tank and IJoy themselfs have put in the work and it shows. But don’t take my word for it, give it a try for yourself.
The airflow is not just for show, it can actually be used as a great variable. Closing it just a bit can change your vaping experience for the better.
