Smok G-Priv 3 vs Innokin Proton

Introduction

Since the new and improved release from the G-Priv series made by SMOK UK is here, we wanted to make a comparison between it and the Innokin Proton, which is a fan favourite among our customers. There are quite a few differences between the two, and we would like to compare them here at our vape shop - UK ECIG STORE

Features

The Smok G-Priv 3 Kit has a new and wider touch screen when compared to its predecessor, and we are sure that it is a welcome change of design for people who may have struggled with the screen size before. Also the chipset saw an upgrade, it:is now using the new IQ-G Chipset and a 32-bit processor, it can kick out up to 230W, fire in 0.001 seconds and handle a current output of up to 50A. Also, The G-Priv 3 has 2 Buttons the main button (the Fire button) is a side button, it elegantly follows the shape of the mod and doesn’t protrude.

The Innokin Proton is quite different from the new player, since instead of using a touch screen for the mod settings, it favours a multi-direction analog stick. The Innokin Proton is packed to the brim with features. Pretty much everything you would expect from a good modern day mod. Wattage mode, TC for SS316L, Ti, and Ni200 as well as TCR mode and a bypass mode. It also features a wattage curve mode with twelve increments (0.5-second increments for a total of six seconds) and four memories for the curves. There really isn’t anything missing from this mod in terms of functionality.

Design

The Smok G-Priv 3 looks extremely similar to its predecessors; the G-Priv 2 and the original G-Priv 1 don’t think that’s a bad thing though, it does fit most hands fairly comfortably. At 5.4cm wide and 2.8cm cm thick it’s not too big. The edges are chamfered which makes all the difference when holding the mod, the lack of edges really does, make it much nicer to hold, and makes it feel a lot less block-like.The 2.4” Touch screen is an ideal size, measuring at roughly 32mm wide and 53mm high I don’t think the screen is too big or too small.

The Innokin Proton, as most Innokin products, has a build quality that is outstanding, with a sleek design, and a choice of materials of good quality. The battery door feels sturdy, and it latches together nicely and no there’s no rattle. The analog stick works pretty well, especially while moving left to right, which is required when changing output power. The side fire panel is pleasantly clicky and clickable almost to its full length and is suitable for both left and right handed vapers and can be thumb or finger fired or obviously by gripping. The screen is an absolute joy, it’s certainly crystal clear and you have the added bonus of changing the colours (a choice of 6 in total) which lifts the look of the mod wonderful.

Tanks

The Smok G-Priv 3 comes included with the new TFV16 Lite tank, which shares the unique SMOK look. It has a high base, the airflow band alone stands at 9mm tall, SMOK says this provides more airflow space, which in turn produces richer flavour and huge vapour for your best e-liquid, choose from our a 1000's bottles from our collection. The top filling system is a hinged swinging system with a lock release button. The coils included with the new tank are powered by nexMesh technology, and the conical shape of the coil is designed to maximise the bottom airflow, which makes theoretical sense.

The Innokin Proton comes with the Plex tank, a newer and improved version of the Scion II. The top filling system, is a slide on system, that allows you to refill the tank without any issues, and even if it lacks a lock feature, there are no issues with it opening by it self, whether placed it a pocket, or left in a bag.The technology of the new coils, also improves on both durability and cloud production, making it a great choice, if you enjoy vaping at high wattages.
