If you are searching for the best nic salt e-liquid in the UK right now, you are in the right place. But I am going to be straight with you before we start: there is no single best nic salt brand for everyone. What makes a great nic salt depends entirely on why you are vaping.
Are you switching from disposables and need the same flavour in a bottle? That is a different answer to someone who has been refilling pod kits for two years and wants something more complex. It is a different answer again to someone who used to smoke 20 cigarettes a day and needs 20mg to actually feel satisfied.
I have been working in UK vaping long enough to have tried most of what is on this list personally. These are my actual picks, based on what I use, what our customers come back for, and what actually performs in a pod kit day after day. Every brand here is in stock right now at UK ECIG STORE in 10ml bottles at the strengths listed.
Quick note on the October 2026 vape duty: from 1 October 2026, an additional £2.20 per 10ml applies to all e-liquids sold in the UK, including every nic salt on this list. Hardware is not affected. If you want to stock up at current prices, now is the time. Our full guide to the October 2026 vape duty guide has everything you need to know.
What Are Nic Salts and Why Do They Work Better Than Freebase for Most Vapers?
Nic salts use a different form of nicotine than standard freebase e-liquid. In freebase nicotine, the nicotine molecule is in a free, slightly alkaline state that creates a harsh throat hit at higher strengths, noticeable above 12mg and genuinely unpleasant above 18mg for most people. Nic salts use benzoic acid to lower the pH of the nicotine, which means you can vape 20mg and it feels smooth. Not harsh. Not scratchy. Just smooth and fast.
That smoothness matters for one specific reason: 20mg is the UK legal maximum, and 20mg is the strength that most ex-smokers and former disposable users actually need to stop reaching for a cigarette. If 20mg freebase feels harsh, people either vape too much trying to compensate, or they drift back to cigarettes. Nic salts fix this. They deliver 20mg smoothly, the nicotine absorbs faster than freebase, and the craving is genuinely satisfied rather than half-satisfied.
For pod kits (the device type that suits nic salts), the 50/50 VG/PG ratio also means the liquid wicks properly in every pod at every resistance. Thick high-VG shortfill liquid in a pod kit causes dry hits and wasted coils. 50/50 nic salt in a pod kit just works.
1. ElfLiq
Best for Ex-Elf Bar Users
If you used Elf Bar disposables, ElfLiq is the most direct match available. Made by the same company, Elf Bar, using the same flavour concentrates as the original devices. Blue Razz Lemonade in an ElfLiq bottle tastes like Blue Razz Lemonade in an Elf Bar 600 pod. Not approximately the same. The same.
The range covers over 40 flavours across fruit, ice, candy, drinks, and tobacco. Available in 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg. The 5mg option makes ElfLiq one of the more flexible brands for vapers stepping down in strength. Batch consistency is tight: Elf Bar's manufacturing quality control means you get the same product every time.

Best for Ex-Lost Mary Users
Same principle as ElfLiq but for Lost Mary. Lost Mary Nic Salts is Lost Mary's own bottled nic salt range, using the same liquid recipes as the BM600, BM6000, and Tappo pods. Note for regular buyers: this range was previously sold under the name MaryLiq, which is now being phased out in favour of the Lost Mary Nic Salts branding. It is the same liquid, the same company, just a new name on the bottle. If Pink Lemonade was your Lost Mary flavour, this is what you buy in a refillable 10ml bottle.
Where Lost Mary Nic Salts differs from ElfLiq is in flavour character: Lost Mary's recipes lean toward smooth, rounded fruit profiles rather than the sharper intensity of Elf Bar. If you find ElfLiq slightly too punchy, Lost Mary Nic Salts often hits a more balanced note. Blueberry Sour Raspberry in Lost Mary Nic Salts has a softer landing than the ElfLiq equivalent. That is not a criticism; it suits some vapers better and is part of why both brands have their loyal followings.

Best Bar Salt for Post-Disposable Flavour Intensity
ELUX Legend nic salts take the flavour recipes from their now-banned disposable range and put them in a 10ml bottle. The intensity is noticeably higher than most bar salts: ELUX have a reputation for double-concentrated flavouring that produces a stronger hit than comparable brands at the same strength.
Mr Blue is the standout. A blue raspberry and mixed berry blend that is genuinely hard to put down. Lemon Lime, Watermelon Ice, and Blueberry Raspberry are all consistent sellers. If you vaped ELUX disposables, this is the closest match. If you have never tried ELUX, the Firerose 5000 nic salt sub-range offers 30+ additional flavours with a slightly different profile to the Legend line.

Best All-Round Bar Salt
Bar Juice 5000 does one thing: replicates popular disposable vape flavours in a 10ml bottle, precisely and consistently. Over 50 flavours. Available in 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg across the full range. At the price point these sit, the value-per-ml ratio is hard to beat.
The format name is the claim: 5,000 puffs-equivalent of flavour per bottle at the right device and wattage. Each bottle equals approximately five standard 600-puff disposables at significantly lower cost. The flavour accuracy is what builds repeat purchases: Blueberry Sour Raspberry, Kiwi Passionfruit Guava, and Blue Razz Lemonade taste clean and consistent across batches in a way that cheaper alternatives sometimes do not.
One honest note: Bar Juice 5000 leans sweet. If you want complexity or nuance, it is not the brand for you. If you want a bold, sweet, disposable-style hit that just works, it is very hard to beat at this price.

5. IVG
Best for Flavour Complexity Without Going Premium
IVG (I Vape Great) has been making nic salts long enough to have accumulated over 50 industry awards. The IVG Intense range covers fruit and ice profiles with more flavour layering than bar salts typically attempt. Frozen Cherries is a standout: a rich, dark cherry profile with a cooling menthol finish that keeps it from tipping into simple sweetness.
Retro Orange brings a nostalgic, boiled-sweet citrus character that is different from anything else on this list, while Watermelon Ice and Lemon Lime round out the range with cleaner, more refreshing profiles. IVG is the bridge between bar-style sweetness and premium complexity; it does not demand you choose one or the other.

Best British-Made Bar Salt
VYKO is a UK-made brand that is closer to a proper nic salt brand than most bar salt lines. The flavours are cleaner and better-balanced than the sweetest bar salts, with accurate fruit profiles that do not tip into artificial territory. Pink Lemonade is the standout: tart, fizzy, genuinely refreshing rather than sugary-sweet, and one of the most-reached-for bottles in our office.
VYKO also holds a particular significance for this brand: it is the direct successor to the One Kit e-liquid range that featured in the New England Journal of Medicine clinical trial in 2019, one of the most significant pieces of evidence produced for e-cigarette effectiveness in smoking cessation. That heritage means rigorous quality standards are baked into the product from its origins. Available in 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg, which makes it one of the most flexible brands for stepping down over time.

Best for Fruit Complexity in Bar Salt Format
Riot Squad is a UK brand that bridges bar salts and premium e-liquid. The Bar EDTN range applies Riot Squad's craft flavour approach to the disposable-inspired format, which means you get bar salt intensity with noticeably better flavour depth. Banana Kiwi Ice is genuinely unusual: creamy banana and zingy kiwi with a cooling finish that works all day rather than becoming overwhelming. Pineapple Ice is the top seller but is not where Riot Squad's real strength lies.
Available in 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg across the Bar EDTN range. The 0mg option on certain flavours is also worth noting for vapers who want the flavour experience without the nicotine, which is rare in bar salt format.

Best for Unusual Flavour Profiles
Doozy Vape occupies the creative end of the nic salt market. The range spans tropical, drinks, and dessert-inspired profiles rather than straightforward disposable-style fruit. Doozy Tropix Rio is a layered tropical fruit blend, while Doozy Salts Fizzy Lemon delivers a sharp, fizzy citrus hit that is closer to a soft drink than a typical vape flavour.
The dessert side of the range is where Doozy really sets itself apart. Doozy Salts Vanilla Custard is a smooth, bakery-style dessert flavour, and the Doozy Vape Temptations line pushes further with indulgent profiles like Banana Split and Strawberry Milk. If you have been vaping for a while and the standard bar salt range is starting to feel repetitive, Doozy is worth exploring. The nic salt formula is smooth and consistent, and the flavour concentration is high enough to justify the price point.

9. Hayati Pro Max Nic Salts
Best for Hayati Device Users
Hayati Pro Max nic salts are formulated specifically for pod kits and are the natural companion to the Hayati Pro Ultra Plus 25K and Pro Max Plus 6000. The flavour profiles are directly drawn from the Hayati prefilled pod range, so if you have been using Hayati pods and want to switch to a refillable pod kit without losing the flavours you know, this is the most logical starting point.
The 50/50 formula performs well across all standard MTL pod resistances. Flavours like Strawberry Watermelon, Blue Razz Cherry, and Lemon & Lime are accurate to the pod versions and hold well across a full 10ml bottle. Not the most adventurous range but consistently reliable for Hayati brand loyalists.

Best Value for Daily Vapers
Drifter Bar Salt is not the most talked-about brand in the market but it is one of the most consistently good value options for everyday vaping. Clean 50/50 formula, bold bar-salt flavours, and pricing that makes multibuy deals genuinely economical rather than just nominally discounted.
Watermelon Ice and Sour Blueberry Ice are the standouts. Not the deepest or most complex nic salts on this list, but accurate, consistent, and hard to fault for the price. If your priority is reliable daily flavour at the lowest cost per ml, Drifter earns its place here.

What Nicotine Strength Should I Use?
This is the most important question in vaping for ex-smokers and the one most often answered badly. Here is the honest answer.
If you smoked more than 10 cigarettes a day: start at 20mg. This is non-negotiable. Starting lower is the most common reason people go back to cigarettes in the first two weeks.
If you used a disposable vape at 20mg: stay at 20mg in your new refillable setup. The device change does not change your nicotine need.
If you smoked fewer than 10 cigarettes a day: start at 10mg. You can always increase if it does not feel satisfying.
If you want to step down over time: 20mg for at least 3 months until you are fully off cigarettes, then move to 10mg, then to 5mg if you want to continue reducing. Do not rush this.
The strongest nic salt you can legally buy in the UK is 20mg per ml. This is the maximum set by the Tobacco Products Directive (TRPR). All products in our range comply with this limit.
Will Nic Salt Prices Change After October 2026?
Yes. From 1 October 2026, the UK Vaping Products Duty adds £2.20 per 10ml to every e-liquid sold in the UK, including every nic salt on this list. After VAT, the real-terms increase is approximately £2.64 per 10ml bottle. A bottle that currently costs £3.99 will cost approximately £6.63 after the duty applies.
Hardware is not affected by the duty. Pod kits, replacement pods, and coils remain unaffected. Only the liquid itself is taxed.
If you want to stock up at current prices, now is the time. Our October 2026 vape duty guide has the full breakdown of which products are affected and by how much.
How to Get the Best Results From Your Nic Salt
- Use a 50/50 pod kit. All the nic salts on this list are 50/50 VG/PG and work best in MTL pod kits with coil resistances above 0.8 ohm. Using them in a sub-ohm kit at low resistance will deliver too much nicotine per puff and will feel harsh.
- Prime your coil. Fill the pod, let it sit for five minutes before the first puff. This saturates the wick and prevents the burnt taste that comes from firing a dry coil.
- Do not chain vape. Nic salts work faster than freebase. Give each puff 30 to 60 seconds before the next and you will get more from each bottle.
- Change your coil before you taste burnt. The moment flavour turns flat or slightly burnt is the moment to change the pod or coil, not three days later. A worn coil ruins the flavour of a good nic salt.
- Store bottles away from direct sunlight. UV light degrades nicotine and flavour compounds. A dark drawer at room temperature is fine.
