What are Longfill E-Liquids?
Longfill E-Liquids are DIY E-Liquids that require mixing before use. Each bottle contains a small amount of flavour concentrate, which must be combined with VG, PG and nicotine to create a custom vape juice. Longfill e-liquids allow you to customise the nicotine strength to suit your needs and offer a more flexible approach when compared to Shortfills as you can mix an e-liquid to contain much more nicotine than 3mg which is the recommended strength for Shortfills.
So, if you want to try e-liquid mixing but don’t want to spend ages mixing and steeping an e-liquid, Longfills are the solution for you. Save yourself some time and money and take a look at the Longfill E-Liquids that we have to offer.
What’s the difference between a Shortfill and a Longfill?
Shortfill e-liquids have been around for a long time, and most of you probably know what they are and how they work. If not, here is the low down! Shortfills are usually available in 60ml and 120ml bottles. For this example, let's use 60ml shortfills. Each bottle contains 50ml of e-liquid which consists of VG (Vegetable Glycerin), PG (Propylene Glycol) and flavour concentrate. All that is missing is nicotine for which there is 10ml of space. Adding a 20mg nic shot will result in 60ml of 3mg e-liquid. The same goes for the 120ml shortfills which contain 100ml of pre-mixed e-liquid and have 20ml of space for nicotine, also resulting in 3mg when added.
Longfill e-liquids are quite new and at first, may seem a little confusing, but are quite a simple concept when it comes to DIY E-liquids. Different brands offer different bottle sizes but the concept stays the same. The bottle only contains a small amount of pure flavour concentrate (this will differ depending on bottle size) whilst the rest of the bottle stays empty. You need to fill the bottle with VG (Vegetable Glycerin), PG (Propylene Glycol) and nicotine to create a ready-to-vape e-liquid. Most longfills will require you to purchase the VG, PG and nicotine separately but brands such as Nixer provide Mixer Kits to add to the longfill, making it super simple to create your DIY E-Liquid.
How to turn a Longfill into an e-liquid?
As you probably gathered from this blog so far, the methods of creating a ready-to-vape e-liquid using longfills vary from brand to brand but the overall concept stays the same. The flavour concentrate is suspended in 100% VG. You then need to add VG, PG and nicotine shots which will change the overall ratio of the e-liquid. The amount of VG and PG that you add is completely up to you, depending on what you want the overall VG/PG ratio to be.
Who can vape Longfills?
The beauty of Longfill e-liquids is that they can be suitable for everyone!
Vampire Vape 60ml Longfills require a fully custom mixing process which means that you can precisely control the VG/PG ratio as well as the nicotine content to suit your needs. If you want to make a nic salt for MTL (Mouth To Lung) vaping, this should contain around 50% VG and to be honest, the nicotine strength is totally up to you! If you want to make an e-liquid for sub-ohm/DTL (Direct To Lung) vaping, this should contain 70% VG or more and again, nicotine strength is up to you although we recommend no more than 6mg.
Nixer offers Mixer Kits alongside their 60ml Longfill range which makes them super easy to use. You can pick between Freebase Mixer Kits which are great for sub-ohm vaping and Nic Salt Mixer Kits for MTL vaping. Both types of mixer kits are available in different nicotine strengths so you can personalise the strength to your liking!
Nu Vape Longfills are slightly different than Vampire Vape and Nixer as they come in 30ml bottles and contain only 5ml of flavour concentrate. You can select your overall e-liquid strength when ordering and you will receive the Longfill as well as two nicotine shots to combine and create a 25ml Nic Salt, intended for MTL vaping.
