What are the different types of vape pod kits?

Generally, you will find two main different types of pod vape kits or pod systems to choose from. One is a Closed Pod system, also known as a prefilled pod kit, and the other is an Open Pod system or refillable pod kit. Prefilled Pod Kit (Closed Pod System) Closed pod systems are the easiest device to use in the vaping market and only use replaceable cartridges to function, which are not refillable but come pre-filled with e-liquid. They are, in a way, extremely convenient when looking at ease of use. You can also carry a spare pod, which can easily be swapped without having to refill or change coils on the go. The main downside of this is that you are limited to the flavours a manufacturer produces and, therefore, won't be able to use most of what is available in the market. Refillable Pod Kit (Open Pod System) Open Pod systems, on the other hand, can be filled with any compatible flavoured e-liquid and can be refilled multiple times. Open pod kits designed for beginners have a pod with a sealed-in coil. You replace the whole pod once the coil needs changing, typically after between 5 and 10 refills. For more advanced users, there are kits where you can remove the coils from the pod and just replace the coil, greatly reducing how often you need to change the pod. Pod Mod Kit There is also another type of open pod kit known as a Pod Mod. These are more powerful devices with larger battery capacities that feature either semi or full sub-ohm capabilities and provide advanced settings customisation. Disposable Vape The final type of pod vape kit is the disposable vape. These are specialised versions of closed pod kits, where the pod is sealed inside the device, and the whole vape is disposed of once it’s empty. Popular examples of this style of pod vape kit are Elf Bar and Lost Mary. They require zero maintenance and are widely available, but can work out more expensive in the long run. Deciding which of these types will be the best vape pod kit for you will really come down to whether you prioritise convenience or lower long-term operating costs. Refilable pod vape Refilable pod vapes contain pods that need to be filled with eliquid, you can add any vape liquid that you like. Can use different e-liquid flavours Cheaper to buy empty pods Some have function of being both MLT and DTL Prefilled Pod Vape Prefilled pod vapes are pod kits that have a pod prefilled with vape juice so you do not add vape juice to the pod, they are ready to vape. Easy to use and replace pods Dipsose of pod once vape liquid finished Only a select range of flavours to choose from

What is a pod vape kit?

A pod vape kit is a compact and easy-to-use type of vaping device. They're available either as refillable pod vape, where you get to choose your own e-liquid from any of hundreds of brands or as a prefilled pod kit, like the or the Lost Mary Tappo. These come with prefilled pods, saving you the time and inconvenience of refilling yourself.

Are pod kits simple to use?

They are extremely simple to use, with many of them (especially the prefilled pod kits) being draw-activated designs. All that is required by you is inhaling. Others have a firing button you press to drag. The bottom line is that there is no setting up required, they are easy to operate and require low maintenance. All you have to do is essentially refill and replace the pods.

What are the benefits of choosing a pod kit?

There are several benefits, with one of the biggest being not needing to change coils as its pre-fitted in the pod itself. Therefore there’s a lot less maintenance when you compare them to other vape pens or sub-ohm kits. Additionally, they’re often cheaper than a classic vape to buy in the first place. As they are often low-powered devices, they use less e-liquid, so ongoing costs can also be lower. Their small size and low power, also make them ideal for low-profile vaping. They can easily slip into the palm of a hand or a pocket and they don’t produce large clouds of vapour.

What is a DTL pod vape?

A DTL Pod Kit is designed to replicate the feel of a sub-ohm device in a much smaller and pocket-friendly device. DTL stands for Direct To Lung, meaning you just inhale straight into your lungs. These devices are recommended to be used with lower nicotine e-liquids as they are still quite powerful, and high nicotine would feel too harsh to the user.

What is a MTL pod kit?

An MTL Pod Kit is perfect for people looking for a tighter airflow and a cigarette-style feel. MTL stands for Mouth To Lung, meaning you collect the vapour in your mouth first and then breathe it into your lungs, just like a cigarette. These generally use lower power, so high nicotine e-liquids are ideal to be used with MTL Kits.

How long does a vape pod kit last?

Pod kits are almost always rechargeable and a single charge would last around 24 hours. The battery will start to deplete roughly a year after the first charge, so switching pod kits every year or so, is ideal. The coils or vape pods will last around a week, depending on vaping style and how sweet the e-liquid you are vaping is. The sweeter the e-liquid, the shorter the coil or pod will last

What is the best pod vape kit?

Pod kits have been really popular in recent years and options like the VooPoo Drag range and the Uwell Caliburn range have seen the most success. The VooPoo Drag Kits are ideal for someone looking for a DTL feel, and the Uwell Caliburn range is aimed at those looking for an MTL (cigarette-style) experience. The Smok Nord 50W Pod Kit has also seen success as the kit can be used as both MTL and DTL.

What is the best prefilled vape pod kit?

When it comes to pre-filled pods, VUSE devices have seen great popularity thanks to the range of flavours and nicotine strengths available. Another kit that is extremely popular is the Elf Bar Elfa Pro. The Elfa Pro pods are available in all of the same flavours as the popular Elf Bar disposables but work out to approximately 50% of the cost over time.

What are the best e-liquids to use in a vape pod kit?

Pod vapes usually have high resistance and therefore operate at a low wattage, making them better suited for MTL vaping. So it’s ideal to use vape liquid that has a higher percentage of PG. PG is as dense as VG and also it vaporises with ease however, it's worth noting that PG gives more of a throat hit than VG, meaning it replicates the feeling of smoking more effectively. Here at UK ECIG STORE, we suggest you go for an e-liquid with a PG content of 50% or higher when using a pod kit. Nicotine Salts e-liquids are also compatible with pod kits, as they usually have a higher content of PG rather than VG. They make an ideal choice for those who want a high nicotine content in their e-liquid, but want to avoid harsh throat hits.
