Innokin Proton Mini Vs Geekvape Aegis Mini - Which Ones Better?

Introduction

UK ECIG STORE, would like to welcome you to another installment of the ‘vs’ series blogs. Today, we will be discussing the highly popular Innokin Proton Mini kit and the greatly celebrated Geekvape Aegis Mini kit. Both are incredible devices that have very unique features, but only one can be victorious.

We decided to test and compare these two devices, due to their many similarities. They both feature internal batteries and are compact devices, capable of giving you a Sub-Ohm experience, without compromising the weight of the device.

Features:

Like the Proton Kit by Innokin, the Proton Mini is packed with a plethora of features and modes.

The Innokin Proton Mini features the traditional Wattage mode, Temperature Control for different types of coils, and a fan favourite, the Bypass Mode, which is capable of firing up to 120W.

Variable wattage allows you to choose the output power of your mod in watts and it lets you tweak your wattage level gradually to find your perfect vape. Temperature control (TC) helps to create a consistent coil temperature whilst you vape longer drags to avoid dry hits. Bypass mode automatically tracks your effective wattage, and will be higher when the battery or batteries are fully charged or lower as you continue vaping throughout the day.

The Proton Mini mod is a great option, even with demanding tanks. Without making things too complicated, this device has pretty much every mode you would possibly need. It has three memory slots where you can save your settings (very useful if you like to switch back and forth between coils). This way you don’t need to reset everything when switching, but instead you can just load the profile from memory mode; a handy feature.

In addition to Wattage mode and Temperature Control (for SS, Ti, Ni200, and TCR)  the Aegis Mini by Geekvape, also features a Bypass mode. What makes this kit really stand out is its build quality. While compact in size, the Aegis Mini is extremely robust and comes fully-equipped with water, shock and dust protection. It’s perfect for adventurous vapers who expect reliability and a high standard of safety from their e-cigarette setup. We have tried the Aegis Mini mod for some time, and even after some knocks and bumps, the device did not suffer any damage marks, and kept on functioning as it normally would.

Design:

The Proton Mini feels solid to touch, with a high quality build which shines even more with it’s large screen and joystick. The mod features a front facing 1.45-inch TFT colour screen which is very clear and bright. You can download their software to load your own picture on the screen, which is a welcome feature for those who enjoy personalisation. The 510 pin is great and positioned in a way so most tanks will fit without struggle, and it’s also centered so it can fit atomizers up to 26 mm if required, without overhanging the mod’s edge. The paint job is of a high quality, and looks to have a thick clear coat on it. On top of that, there are a range of colour options for this device, such as Nebula, Green Demon and Sunset.

When we say that the Aegis Mini is lightweight, we really mean it. It is easily one of the smallest 80W mods out there. Weighing in at only 122.4 grams altogether, it feels almost like you are holding a pod mod. It’s also very comfortable to hold thanks to the rubber coating.

You can tell this Aegis Mini was designed with ergonomics in-mind.

The design is broken down into a few sections: the main part of the mod is metal but coated in a nice thick rubber that has shown no signs of wear during the weeks we have been using it. The flair of this product is the trim, which matches the fire button and the adjustment buttons. And lastly, the leather which has a host of design options, from the color you pick, to the stitching on the leather there can be a matching colour scheme.

Tanks:

The Ajax tank comes with a 2 ml pyrex glass and they include a spare as well. You can easily remove and replace these by simply unscrewing the base and just pulling them out. The drip tip looks good and fits very nicely while sitting comfortably. The threading is nice and smooth on it and the fill method is the slide top-fill that we see on most tanks. On top of that, the airflow control ring can be adjusted with ease. Ajax Tank is also compatible with Plex3D  and Plex 3D-Matrix coils, the Innokin’s version of mesh coils.

The Cerberus Tank, included with the Aegis Mini Kit, is great and does not need high wattages to produce good clouding and flavour. The Cerberus is a very compact 2 ml tank, which is fairly easy to refill following a twist of the top cap. A great thing about this tank is that the coils are multi compatible with different tanks, such as SMOK Baby Beast, Vaporesso NRG and CoilArt Mage Sub Tank. Also the airflow ring is well built, and smooth to adjust at your preference.

Overall Conclusion:

Both these devices, despite being similar size-wise, are both unique in their own way, and therefore are fantastic choices for people who are going to buy a new Sub-Ohm device. The Innokin Proton Mini has the upper hand in both performance and battery capacity, since it has a 3400 mAh of battery capacity and can go up to 120 W. However the Geekvape Aegis Mini would win the durability challenge, due to the water and shock resistance of it’s build. But that's our opinion; try them out and let us know what you think.
